TeenAde Program

Imagine being part of a program that enables you to earn money, give back to your community, meet other teens from around Boston and learn about yourself! How do we do all this?

The Bureau of Jewish Education of Greater Boston’s TeenAde program offers you seminars and support for your placement as an aide in a congregational or community school. You may work individually or in small groups with students with special learning needs or in classrooms that include students with learning difficulties. The seminars are interactive, fun, and educational. You learn about special needs, Jewish views on special needs and teaching strategies making games, storytelling, lesson planning, brain-teasers. There is time to discuss, brainstorm and problem solve with your peers and the staff about the work you are doing in the classroom.
2008-09 marks the seventh year of TeenAde! At national conferences TeenAde stands out among service learning projects. In fact, similar programs have begun in Philadelphia and in Manhattan at the JCC, based on the success of TeenAde. What do people say about this program?

TeenAde gave me friends for a lifetime! Our own TeenAde was an amazing experience.  It really made me appreciate education majors and I developed really good friends – We still get together monthly on our own. – Alumni

When a child I am tutoring makes progress, I feel that we both have accomplished something. – Alumni

I find it amazing that teenagers in today’s world are willing to give of themselves. They thank me for doing something when they give so much of themselves. - Education Director
